Focusing on what matters most
By Chris Melvin // March 24, 2021

Having a lot of things seems to be satisfying for most of us. Nowadays, it’s easier to want more and more (and more) thinking we will never have enough of the things we need in life. Yet no matter how useful and beneficial those things are for a season, it will eventually become a mountain of mess we don't actually need. As a result, the mess in our lives piles up.
The mountain of mess will cloud our thinking. We no longer see what matters most, which at times paralyzes us at the moment. We just immediately see what is ahead causing us to have a slippery slope mindset. We see the bills we have to pay, the reports we have to finish, and the tons of responsibility we have to fulfill. In which, when we became incapable to accomplish cause we to think as failures and disappointments. We are no longer purpose-driven, but fear-driven. We fear failing expectations because when we do, we will be drowned in a sea of uncertainty.
We declutter to make room for what matters most in life. Decluttering is not just putting away the pile of mess but making room for something more important. For different people, what matters most could mean different things. It could be providing for your family, achieving your dreams, or helping other people. All of these are good, but truth is, they are not the best. What matters most in life is not just a list of the good things we can experience but it’s the ultimate of life. Before we ask "what matters most?", we can ask, "who matters most?" The answer is Jesus. Jesus is who matters most in this life. In Him, we find our purpose and what this one life we have is for. Once we have understood that, we will understand the essence of this life, and that is to live life for Him, to Him and with Him.
It may seem to be unexplainable through words, but assuredly I tell you, once we have experienced a life with Jesus, we will fully understand what it means to live life to what matters most.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Psalm 34: 8
